Replace "said" with (Volume 1)



Hey! This is Anika and I welcome you all to the first edition of "Relace said with" 

Sometimes ‘He said’ and ‘She said’ can dull and grow boring if overused. You should only replace “said” if the line of dialogue requires accentuation or verbalization to convey the way it expresses the words and constantly the word, “said” doesn’t quite do the job. If you’re struggling to find that exquisite and particular replacement, then this blog is for you.
In this edition, we will talk about the other words (Categorized by Emotions with meanings) which we can use instead of said to keep the dialogue natural and engrossing. So let's start:

ANGER

  • Snapped - to speak or say something in an impatient, usually angry.
  • Snarled - to make an angry sound while showing the teeth.
  • Growled - to make a low noise in the throat to show anger or to give a warning.
  • Barked - to give orders, ask questions, etc. in a loud unfriendly way.
  • Bellowed - to shout in a loud deep voice, especially because you are angry.
  • Roared - to shout something very loudly.
  • Grumbled - to complain in a bad-tempered way; to keep saying that you do not like something.
  • Complained - to say that you are not satisfied with or happy about something.
  • Objected - to not like or to be against somebody/something.
  • Remonstrated - to protest or complain about somebody or something.
  • Huffed (this one is just mildly exasperated) - blow out air loudly on account of exertion or express one's feeling of petty annoyance.
  • Nagged - to continuously complain to somebody about his/her behavior or to ask him/her to do something many times.
  • Thundered - to make a loud deep noise like thunder.
  • Screamed - to cry out loudly in a high voice because you are afraid, excited, angry, in pain, etc.
  • Rasped - make a harsh, grating noise.
  • Yelled - to shout very loudly, often because you are angry, excited, or in pain.
  • Shouted - to speak or cry out in a very loud voice.
  • Shrieked - to say something loudly in a high voice.
  • Hollered - give a loud shout or cry.
  • Seethed - to be very angry.
  • Ranted - (disapproving) to speak or complain about something in a loud, angry, and rather confusing way.
  • Fumed - to be very angry about something.

SARCASTIC, CREEPY

  • Leered - to look or smile at somebody in an unpleasant way that shows an evil or sexual interest in them.
  • Sneered - to show that you have no respect for somebody/something by the expression on your face or the way that you speak.
  • Jeered - to laugh or shout rude comments at somebody/something to show your lack of respect for him/her/it.
  • Drawled - to speak slowly, making the vowel sounds very long.
  • Taunted - to try to make somebody angry or upset by saying unpleasant or cruel things.
  • Cackled - laugh in a loud, harsh way.
  • Mocked - to laugh at somebody/something in an unkind way or to make other people laugh at him/her/it.

CERTAIN, SURE, CONFIDENT

  • Declared - to state something publicly and officially or to make something known in a firm, clear way.
  • Asserted - to say something clearly and firmly.
  • Announced - to make something known publicly and officially.
  • Insisted - to say strongly that you must have or do something, or that somebody else must do something.
  • Assured - believing that you can do something or succeed at something; confident
  • Argued - to say things, often angrily, that shows that you do not agree with somebody about something.
  • Bragged - to talk too proudly about something.
  • Boasted - to talk with too much pride about something that you have or can do.
  • Stated - to say or write something, especially formally.
  • Reassured - to say or do something in order to stop somebody worrying or being afraid.
  • Preached - to say that something is good and persuade other people to accept it.
  • Commented - to say what you think or feel about something.
  • Remarked - to say or write something; to comment.
  • Confirmed - to give new assurance of the validity of.
  • Vowed - to pledge or resolve solemnly to do.
  • Promised - to say definitely that you will do or not do something or that something will happen
  • Observed - notice or perceive (something) and register it as being significant.

ACCEPTANCE

  • Accepted - to agree to take something that somebody offers you.
  • Acknowledged - to accept or admit that something is true or exists.
  • Admitted - to agree that something unpleasant is true or that you have done something wrong.
  • Affirmed - to say formally or clearly that something is true or that you support something strongly.
  • Agreed - to have the same opinion as somebody/something.
  • Assumed - to accept or believe that something is true even though you have no proof; to expect something to be true.
  • Conferred - to discuss something with somebody before making a decision.
  • Confessed - to admit that you have done something bad or wrong.
  • Confirmed - to give new assurance of the validity of.
  • Justified - to give or be a good reason for something.
  • Settled - not changing or not likely to change.
  • Understood - to know or realize the meaning of something
  • Undertook - to decide to do something and start doing it.
  • Verified - to check or state that something is true.

UNCERTAINTY

  • Faltered - to lose confidence and determination.
  • Stammered - to speak with difficulty, repeating sounds and pausing before saying things correctly.
  • Stuttered - to have difficulty when you speak, so that you keep repeating the first sound of a word.
  • Hesitated - to pause before you do something or before you make a decision, usually because you are uncertain or worried.
  • Guessed - to try to give an answer or make a judgment about something without being sure of all the facts.
  • Blurted - say (something) suddenly and without careful consideration.
  • Trembled - to feel fear or anxiety: I tremble at the very thought of it.
  • Speculated - to make a guess about something.
